Bow Wow! Happy Year of the Dog!

January 29th marks the beginning of the Chinese lunar year of the dog. And what a year it will be. Embodying the characteristics of its namesake this year should be one of honesty, compassion, reliability and justice. Could it come at a better time? The dog is an ethical and idealistic sign at its best and accordingly years bearing the name of the Dog should bring increased social awareness and attention to the plight of the less fortunate (the underdog).
On the down side Dog energy can be cynical, anxious, nosy and noisy. No one (or animal or Zodiac sign) is perfect. If we temper these qualities we can see they are natural reactions to conditions in the world which often require such a response. We do not just put on rose colored glasses all of a sudden because the calendar flips a page. It is in the Dog's nature to respond cautiously and make a fuss when necessary to bring attention to the injustices in its world.
If we can all get in touch with the Dog's altruistic sense of right and wrong it can be a time of selflessness rather than selfishness. It is a time to reflect on our values, personally and as a society with fairness and benevolence. While the year ahead promises to be full of turmoil and cynicism, the qualities of the Dog will work to bring a sense of balance and fairness to the fore.
Persons born in the Year of the Dog likewise are said to personify their attributes. They are loyalty, compassionate and good listeners. While occasionally high strung they may need to get out and burn off excess energy at times. While they may seem nosy they mean well. Personally, they seem little concerned with money or status but are dogged when it comes to protecting family and friends. They like to finish what they start and are honest and trustworthy. They are brave and work well in teams. Highly ethical and moral they make great friends and companions.
People born under the sign of the Dog are most compatible with a Tiger or a Horse.
