Year of the Monkey
1910 * 1922 * 1934 * 1946 * 1958 * 1970 * 1982 * 1994 * 2006
As the Year of the Horse gallops off into the distance we welcome the Year of the Monkey. Monkeys represent resourcefulness and ingenuity. It will be a good year for learning and advancement along with excitement and amusement. It would be a good time to take that class you've been thinking about taking or to sign up for a workshop that brings out your inner child.
With the Year of the Monkey comes the urge to take chances, speculate, and gamble when the opportunity arises. Be prepared to move quickly when the odds are in your favor. Those who hesitate may well be lost in the scramble, as this year promises to be fast paced if not down right chaotic.
Above all it is a time to stay optimistic and to look on the bright side. The spirit of the monkey is a positive one — rambunctious and even rebellious. Despite whatever challenges arise it is a time for innovative solutions that tap into our ability to enjoy the process. It is a time to socialize and mix it up with a variety of groups and interests. It is not a time to retreat from the world, but rather a time to enjoy the diversity the world offers us.
The monkey has been labeled a party animal due to its playfulness and urge to "monkey around." It is, however, a time to check the tendency for self–indulgence, which can lead to the neglect of one's responsibilities. Guard against the tendency to be drawn into any "monkey business." If we are careful to take care of business, business should take care of us.
In conclusion, be sweet to your friends and those near and dear, and the Year of the Monkey will be a year to remember.
