It's unfortunate that in our culture that we generally have a negative connotation associated with rats. However when you think of the Rat in Chinese astrology you should think of Mickey Mouse or the Little Chef, the rat in Ratatouille who were charming, clever and inventive. Persons born in the year of the Rat are said to have many wonderful qualities. They are ambitious, hard working and shrewd. They are family oriented, sociable and adapt rapidly to change. Rats tend to be popular due to their easy going manner, their natural leadership abilities and self control. They are good leaders because they are charismatic as well as meticulous planners and well organized. On the down side they are strong willed and love to gossip, criticize and haggle. Their natural thriftiness may be perceived as stinginess. When upset they tend to come across as edgy, curt or impertinent. Because they are so enterprising they can also fall prey to being overambitious.
